Queen Elizabeth II 100th Birth Anniversary Exhibition

Celebrating a Century of Iconic Royal Style and Legacy

Queen Elizabeth II 100th Birth Anniversary Exhibition Opens at Buckingham Palace

To mark the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth, The King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace has opened the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of the late Queen’s fashion ever staged.

Titled 'Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style', the exhibition opened on April 10, 2026, and runs until October 18, 2026. It features over 300 items from Her late Majesty’s wardrobe spanning ten decades, with nearly half of the pieces displayed to the public for the first time.

A Celebration of Iconic Royal Style

The exhibition traces Queen Elizabeth II’s unique fashion journey from childhood through to her later years. Highlights include the christening gown commissioned by Queen Victoria, elegant evening gowns, day dresses, hats, tiaras, and even her favourite tartans and tweeds.

Curated by the Royal Collection Trust, the display explores how the late Queen used clothing as a tool of soft diplomacy, national identity, and personal expression throughout her 70-year reign.

Significant Pieces on Display

Among the standout items is the crinoline-skirted blue gown and matching bolero jacket worn by the then Princess Elizabeth for her sister Princess Margaret’s wedding in 1960 – the last full-length dress worn at a royal wedding in England.

Visitors can also see rare early couture pieces, ceremonial robes, and accessories that reflect both her personal taste and her role as Head of State.

King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Involvement

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are scheduled to visit the exhibition on April 20, 2026, as part of the official commemorations for what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday.

The royal visit will be followed by a special reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by the King and Queen, along with other members of the Royal Family, to celebrate the centenary.

A Lasting Legacy

This landmark exhibition not only honours Queen Elizabeth II’s enduring fashion legacy but also serves as a heartfelt tribute to her remarkable life of service. It offers visitors a rare and intimate glimpse into the wardrobe of one of the most photographed women in history.

Tickets are available now, with the exhibition expected to be one of the most popular attractions at Buckingham Palace in 2026.
